Melt Your Face Off Facial Mask!

So I had the strangest experience today trying out a sample face mask from Biore.

I got a sample of the Biore Self HEATING One Minute Mask with an order from dELiA*s. First of all, it was an exchange order, and I didn’t get the sample with my first order, which is strange. I guess it was a “sorry” gift, or something. So I gave it a try today.

Since I got the mask, I kept reading it as a Self HEALING mask, so when I actually used the mask, I was frantic. I did like the package said, start with a clean, wet face. Opened the little sample, squeezed some onto my hand, rubbed my hands together, and here’s the scary part.. It got super hot!

Now if I had read the package right, I would not have been so surprised. So while rubbing it on my face, I re-read the package, and I was like “There is nothing that says it gets hot!” (Serious blonde moment.)

Besides the fact that I can’t read labels right, I liked the mask! I think its a cool concept, of heating and charcoal. The mask is suppose to trap and draw out deep-down impurities because of the charcoal. It supposedly removes 2x more dirt, oil, and gunk that hides deep in your pore. It definitely felt like it got deep in my pores. My theory is that because of the heating element and charcoal, just like using warm water on your skin, it opens up your pores, releasing the junk in your pores.

I would definitely buy this product to see if there are some more noticeable results, because you really can’t know if it works or not, by using it once. It came with a $1.00 off coupon, so I may go purchase this soon.

Kylie Jenner Inspired Look (TUTORIAL)

Here is my newest video! It is a Kylie Jenner inspired look! This look has been all the buzz recently, so I wanted to help you guys achieve it, but without having to break the bank! All products will be listed below.

kylie jenner look

I used the Wet N Wild Lipstick in “Bare It All” which I scored at CVS for $1.99, you can purchase it at Target as well for $1.97. I was able to get it on a sale that was going on at CVS, all Wet N Wild products were buy one get one 50% off. The NYX products were also buy one get one 50% off, and I bought the “Nude Pink” retractable lip liner, which I use in the tutorial as well.

This is one of Kylie’s more subtle makeup look, which is just a simple nude eye with eye liner and mascara, and then this iconic lip color. I think my lip choices are spot on. I will say that this color is very similar to my natural lip color, so it doesn’t seem very different on me. It is a very versatile lip color though, making it work on any skin tone.

Here are some makeup tips that I used in this tutorial:

– When applying bronzer, instead of applying the product to your jawline, apply it under your neck in a “W” form, starting at your ear downward, back up in the middle of your neck, and then down and up to the other ear. You want to avoid that “5 o’clock” shadow look when applying it to your jaw line, but you still want that bronzer to show, so do the “W” trick.

-Kylie always has flawless skin, so applying your foundation and concealer with a DAMP beauty blender or makeup sponge will leave a flawless finish, without looking cakey.

-To achieve the perfect color, I lined my lips with the NYX liner, and then blending that up from the liner to make a gradual fade so you don’t have a harsh lip line.

– When contouring your face, use a smaller brush to get the bronzer directly under your cheekbones, and to make a defined line. Once you have done that, blend it out with your powder brush, so there are no harsh lines.

– To make your lips appear bigger, like Kylie’s, apply a little bit of bronzer directly under your bottom lip, and apply highlighter directly above your top lip. Also, before applying any lip products, scrub your lips with a mixture of olive oil and brown or white sugar, it will exfoliate your lips and plump them up.

Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer in Sand

L’oreal Tru Match Foundation in n3 “Natural Buff”

E.L.F. Eye Primer in Sheer

August Favorites!

So before I completely forget about doing a favorites post for the month, and remembering half way through the month, here is my August Favorites! Better late than never, right?

IMG_7517

Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo – This has been my staple dry shampoo for more than just August. I have actually never tried another dry shampoo. Why try another one when the one you have works good enough? I think this stuff does it’s job! It does have a white/grey hue to it, since my hair is so dark. But I think it does a great job of absorbing the oils and dirt in my hair, when I don’t want to wash my hair. I try not to wash my hair but maybe every other day or every three days. I try to help my hair be as healthy as it can be, and not washing it everyday is a great way to do that. A tip for using dry shampoo, and making sure it soaks up all those dirty oils in your hair, is to spray it all over your roots and anywhere your hair is super oily, and them let it sit in your hair for a while. I will spray it in my hair before I do my makeup, so that once I’m done, I can see that the dry shampoo is white and has soaked up all the oils. I think that helps a lot more than when I use to just spray it in, then rub it out right after. AND might I add that this dry shampoo is less than $3!

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge – I wrote a review about this sponge when I first started my blog, (you should go read that while you’re at it ;P ) but after I wrote that, I never really used this sponge. I did like the sponge, but I just didn’t like the way it applied my Covergirl TruBlend foundation. I would always wet the sponge, and then apply that foundation, and it just turned out very sheer, and I didn’t like that. After a while, I just started to use my hands to apply that foundation. I tried using it again with that foundation, but leaving the sponge dry. I liked that a little better, but I just still wasn’t feelin’ it. So I put the sponge away for a while, and never really used it. Well, now after about two months, I have been using a different foundation, the L’oreal True Match foundation (What’s up with all the “true” named foundation, lol!) so I thought I’d give the sponge another try. I absolutely love the sponge now! I use it wet, and then pat the foundation into my skin with it. It gives a very dewy finish, and spreads the foundation very evenly. Once I pat and blend my foundation out, the wetness goes away and leaves it looking perfect. My sponge has started to fall apart, from all the constant tugging and wetness on it, so I may have to go purchase a new one soon. They are a lower quality than the Beauty Blender, so I don’t expect it to last very long. The sponge is only $5.99 at Ulta!

Eucerin Even Brighter Day Cream – If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that I was sent a bag of skin care products from Escentual.com a few months ago. At that time I had just recently purchased new skin care products, so I wasn’t able to dive right into these products. I have finally got to the bottom of this moisturizer, and since I have been really liking it, I thought I should mention it to you all! I received the day and night cream, but I have only really been using the day cream all the time. I am a bad person, and don’t really wash my face before I go to bed, so I don’t use the night one much. I use the day cream on a daily basis. I will apply it right when I come out of the shower to remove any makeup that didn’t wash off, and to moisturize my skin. It’s a pretty thick moisturizer, so it would be great for anyone with super dry skin. Some reviews I have read from other people, about this product, was that it is too thick, but for me I like it. As for the “brightening” effect, I haven’t seen a difference. My skin does have some discoloration, and redness, but it’s nothing severe, so I really didn’t see any difference.

Julep Nail Polish in Gabrielle – I originally received this nail polish about a year ago, and I never really used it. But now since things are starting to turn towards fall, I thought this nail polish was a great color for the upcoming season. It’s a perfect deep smoky purple. Julep has to be one of the best brands of nail polish I have used. It is on the pricey side, but if you use the code “FREEBOX” you can get your first Julep Maven box for FREE, just pay for shipping, about $4.95, depending on the location. You can join the Maven club to receive hand-picked boxes personalized for you! You take the online quiz about your favorite trends and patterns, and it generates a box just for your style! After your free box, it’s $24.99 for a month by month subscription, or $19.99 per month when you buy 3 months. If you aren’t into all that subscription stuff, you can order any Julep nail polish off their website.

Dove Advanced Care Cool Essentials Deodorant – I traveled to Michigan for a wedding this month, so I needed to pick up some travel-sized products to take on my flight. I knew I didn’t want to bring my deodorant from home, it just takes up so much space, so I picked up this deodorant from Target. I’m pretty sure it was only like $2. This has to be the best deodorant I have ever tried! It smells super good, with cucumber and green tea accents. And it literally lasts all day, I never smelled gross or felt sweaty after being outside for a long period of time with this on. I will definitely pick this up in the full size!

Now that you have heard of my favorites from the month of August, here are some items I wish were on my favorites list!
